2024 Chang'an City Real Film Project (“2024 CRFP” for short) is organized by BeforeTheLight. The project is based on long term screenings, with continuous attention as the core. Through the social space and university space, the project will help more independent, emerging and avant-garde video works belonging to the public to reach a wider audience, and give the audience more abundant video choices and a freer cultural atmosphere.

"Asian Reality" Competition Section

This section aims to focus on and promote filmmakers in Asia who create authentic, reality-based films, recognizing the social, historical, and cultural value their works convey. It seeks to support and encourage these creators in their journey of exploration and perseverance. Films for this competition will be shortlisted by public selectors in the initial round and then undergo final evaluation by an annual jury. The section will ultimately highlight the most representative reality-based film of the year.

"Chang'an Perspectives" Screening Section

This section is dedicated to spotlighting and promoting filmmakers from Shaanxi, students from Shaanxi universities, and films shot in Shaanxi. It emphasizes local concerns and aims to showcase quality works more broadly on Asian platforms. The screening list for this section will be selected by public selectors, and after screenings in the city and universities, the "Chang'an Perspectives" Audience Choice Award will be determined.

Submission Period: From now until September 15, 2024

Qualifications

(1) "Asian Reality" Competition Section is open to real images from Asia. There is no restriction on the nationality of the director or the language of the movie.

(2) "Chang'an Perspectives" Screening Section is open to real image creators from Shaanxi, students from Shaanxi colleges and universities, and real images shot on location in Shaanxi or produced by Shaanxi film and television companies as the first producer (one of the above is sufficient).

(3) Films must be close to material reality and historical writing. There is no restriction on genre (documentary, drama, experimental, animation, etc.).

(4) “Asian Reality” and “Chang'an Perspectives” cannot be entered at the same time.

(5) There is no time limit for the completion of Chinese-language films, while foreign-language films must be completed after January 1, 2020.

(6) Films must be at least 10 minutes long and less than 150 minutes long (including opening and closing credits).

(7) Films must never have been released on the Internet (films that can be viewed or downloaded from the Internet are not eligible for entry).

How to apply

Get the application form from the link below. Vertical posters, stills (3), trailers (3 minutes or less), and director's photo must be packaged in a folder and a link generated, named: title + director.

The complete movie must be provided with a download link to Baidu Netdisk or Vimeo/YOUTUBE.

Fill in the form and send it to CRFP2023@163.com with the subject of the email: 2024CRFP+Asia Reality/ Chang'an Perspectives +film title, and you will receive a reply by default.

(1) Baidu Netdisk or VIMEO/YOUTUBE links must be set to be valid for a long time.

(2) All entries must be submitted in MOV/MP4 format and be no less than 1920*1080 and no larger than 5GB in size.

(3) Submissions must be subtitled in both English and Chinese.

(4) If you want to add a watermark, please label the upper right corner of the screen with “CRFP

2024” in the upper right corner of the screen, and no other watermarks are allowed on the content of the screen.

(5) There is no registration fee. Please fill in the application form carefully and verify the contents. Once the relevant information is published, it cannot be changed arbitrarily.
